“Cherry Orchard” Trend zone: inspiration for the textile industry

Renovation is one of the leading trends of the spring season of Russia's main textile exhibition. In March 2025, “INTERFABRIC” and TEXTILE&HOME will be held at the “Timiryazev Centre”, an area with deep historical roots associated with the Timiryazev Academy. Historical reference, current trends and a creative approach to creating a visual image prompted the organizers of the exhibition to create a Trend Zone project based on the symbolism of the Cherry Orchard. Kirill Lopatinsky, the author of the project, the creative director of the exhibition, talked about how the concept of trend-space was born and what meanings are embedded in the idea of choosing just such an approach to the design of the space.:

– An orchard is an area with fruit trees and shrubs planted by human hands. This is how Wikipedia defines the orchard. So, our team decided to prepare its own blooming exhibition orchard, an orchard that has already yielded its first creative fruits in the form of abundant flowering and creative inspiration. Needless to say, there is nothing more beautiful than a blooming orchard in spring against the background of an endless blue sky!
Speaking about the creative inspiration of artists and textile manufacturers, it should be noted that floral motifs have always been used to create original textile patterns. And if we turn to the symbolism of the cherry orchard in Anton Chekhov's play "The Cherry Orchard", then the orchard represents the Motherland, Russia, its wealth, beauty and poetry. "The whole of Russia is our orchard," says Petya Trofimov, the character of the work.

The orchard, like other cultural and art objects, is a reflection of the national character. Russian orchards are therefore characterized, so to speak, by breadth and cordiality, a certain carelessness, as well as the mystery attributed to the Russian soul. The Russian manor orchard is free and natural, a little neglected, slightly unkempt, in contrast to the sleek German or Dutch orchards. Perhaps this can also be considered a reflection of the spiritual qualities of a Russian person, whose entire ancestral life was closely connected with the forest.

Russian manor and country orchards have a personal, intimate, and even – in an archaic sense – reclusive character. This applies both to our traditional fences and to the ratio of open and closed spaces on the sites in favor of the latter. One of the features of the manor lifestyle is that the neighbors, as a rule, do not cause trouble. Therefore, in most cases there is no need to specifically isolate yourself from them.
Each participant of the exhibition can plant his own orchard and even plant a vegetable garden. This is a great opportunity to be creative and demonstrate an original approach. We will be very happy to support these initiatives.

We used the following colors as the main colors from the palette of shades declared for 2025: aquatic awe, sunset coral, ray flower. Aquatic awe is used as the dominant color, symbolizing the water surface of the sea, as well as the vast expanse of the sky. Sunset coral and ray flower are accent colors that combine to create floral patterns.

The team of the exhibition directorate prepared seminars and master classes as part of the lecture program in the territory of the Trend Zone. We invite you to our spring “Cherry Orchard”! Spend these March days with us!
