Within the framework of the Russian Textile and Light Industry Week, which united the "INTERFABRIC-2024.Autumn" and "TEXTILE&HOME-2024.Autumn" exhibitions, the expert session "Current commercial trends in home textiles 24/25" was held. Anastasia Kotova, representative of the French trend bureau Carlin in Russia since 2006, acted as an expert at the event. Anastasia's key areas of work are educational lectures on trends, consultations for designers and marketers on adapting international trends to the Russian market.
At the expert session, Anastasia presented three trends of the spring-summer 2025 season on different plans: global context – socio–cultural prerequisites for the development of trends in design; inspiring design concepts as the basis of capsule collections - the connection of fashion, interior design and textiles; main colors and combinations, prints for updating the commercial assortment.
"Our bureau builds its forecasts based on consumer preferences and creates a catalog with trend forecasts for two years ahead," the expert said. – Catalogs are published twice a year for different industries: clothing, bedding, interior design, and so on. We start from consumer behavior and choose the main colors and shades based on it. Designers analyze the entire environment and collect design concepts, on the basis of which they then assemble capsules for future collections."
The first trend that Anastasia talked about is "Idealism". Designers have thought about the possibilities of artificial intelligence – how it sees our future: "In the trend, we strive to create a romantic future: light pastel shades of blue, gray, beige and pearl white. Easy color transformation. The illusion of being immersed either in clouds or in water. Flowing fabrics, no bright prints. This is a new development of the Art Nouveau style. Organic structures, flowing lines. Classic draperies, an elegant movement of fabric that transforms when moving. The idea of distortion, transformation is transmitted in compressed tissues. Silver ripples cover the interior surfaces. Ephemeral botany, stylization of ephemeral translucent colors on prints."
The second trend, which was presented by the expert, received the unusual name "Dirt and soul" – and the corresponding embodiment.
"This is the return of the concepts of animistic well–being," Kotova said. – Human is one of the many objects of nature. The emphasis is on the reproduction and reuse of materials. The theme of nature. Transformation. The color palette is natural outflows: khaki, rust, titanium, pink. The lively design conveys the power of plant growth and flowering. Fern, moss details: prints, embroidery, fringe. Eco-color is achieved due to the old ways of coloring fabrics with color spots. Soft to the touch textures with dissolving floral or floral patterns. Aging of metals, patina in the design. The effect of metallization of the fabric, scuffing. Lively design, closed materiality, the charm of aging are the key words of this trend."
The third direction from the Carlin trend bureau is called "My Light". This is an appeal to the sun as a source of light and joy for an urban person, a way to overcome fatigue, crisis,
"The color palette is dark brown, gilt, rustic red; "sunny kiss" is a light shade with a yellow undertone. Traditional eco–friendly materials - for example, straw, its interpretation in the form of a fringe. Gilding. Lace. Traditional weaving, transformed by modern shades. In the design of household items, the method of decoration is carving, but using a simple material – cardboard. A variety of oriental motifs. The basic concepts are rustic luxury, esoteric fetishes, unassuming hedonism," Anastasia listed.
The expert accompanied her speech with a presentation, which was enthusiastically photographed and reshot by the participants and guests of the event. The inspiring and pragmatic palette of these three trends will allow designers, decorators, manufacturers, and marketers to experience each and implement it in their own direction.
